Food Safety Summit

One of the great aspects of our industry is the variety of educational and networking events that are held throughout the year. I have to say that IFT and ASM meetings are my favorites to attend because the talks are very informative and the food is always amazing. The people you meet there have interesting stories about how they became involved in food science and there are people with all levels of experience, from new students to seasoned industry veterans, to connect with.

One such meeting in the coming months is the Food Safety Summit in Baltimore, MD. I have attended this one before, but it looks fascinating and I am excited to meet new people and hear some of the  educational talks. There will be speakers from government, industry and academia addressing some current issues in the food industry. The meeting will run April 30 – May 2 2013. For a full list of events go to:  http://www.foodsafetysummit.com/index.php/program/schedule-of-events.

I am planning on being there for the full three days. Leave a comment if you plan on attending! If not, what other meetings are you looking forward to?

Science Meets Food

The IFT Student Association (IFTSA) is a forward-looking, student-governed community of IFT members. Through competitions, scholarships, networking, and leadership opportunities, you’ll set yourself apart from your classmates (unless they’re members too).

  1. I also forgot to mention that students save a ton of money on this…the regular 3 day package is 895 but students only pay 295. They also get into the exhibit hall for free.
