Food Safety Talks

By: Thomas Siebertz

If you’re like me and can’t get enough food science information, you should definitely check out the podcast “Food Safety Talks”, available as a free download through iTunes.

The hosts are Ben Chapman, Assistant Professor and Extension Food Safety Specialist at North Carolina State University and Don Schaffner, Extension Specialist in Food Science and Professor at Rutgers University. I’m on the road a lot and don’t get the chance to read as often as I’d like, so I load these podcasts onto my iPhone to stay up to date on food safety topics.

The podcasts are informal and very entertaining and you don’t feel like you’re listening to another lecture in school, but at the same time very professional. They cover topics such as foodborne illness outbreaks, current issues with food laws and regulations, food safety, and microbiology. There really aren’t many tv /talk radio shows where the main topic is food safety and I think Don and Ben are doing a great job. The podcast would really appeal to anyone in the food science field and I definitely encourage people to download and listen to them.

They also have a blog: www.foodsafetytalk.com

What blogs/podcasts would you recommend, for any topics related to food science?
